A chilling tale about the rise of fascism
Friday 19 – Thursday 25 August
Running time: 1h55m
Brady Corbet’s debut feature is a chilling tale about the rise of fascism in the early 20th century. A young boy moves to the French countryside at the end of the First World War, where his father (Liam Cunningham) is working on the creation of the Treaty of Versailles. As the boy’s views and beliefs are shaped by what he witnesses, his behaviour becomes erratic and uncontrollable. With a full orchestral soundtrack by Scott Walker, this adaptation of the 1939 short story by Jean-Paul Sartre is an ambitious and compelling psychodrama.
