……………….

Organised religion in the west is staring its end in the face. The only people who are serious about it are mainly right wing money oriented American liars and ignoramuses. Church attendances here are plummetting.

Unfortunately, the proselytising religion of Islam which was always some centuries behind Christianity, is now coming to catch up with us in our convenient hiatus - and its plan is to crusade, to convert or kill. Just the same plan as them nice boys we sent over there during the Crusades...

For sure religion is in decline in the West – but is still very significant.

I don’t think Obama would have got elected if he was an atheist or a muslim. Whilst the Crusades in North Africa were unsuccessful Obama can thank his lucky election stars that Black Africa was converted to Christianity during the period of European imperialism.

Similarly I can’t imagine the UK electing a P.M. who is an avowed atheist although the last two in particular, who have made much of their religious beliefs, can hardly have done the “cause” any favours.

We found out after the event that Tony, who "doesn’t do God", wrestled with his conscience and felt guided by God when he embarked on an illegal war. Maybe God should have told him that the dossier was “dodgy” and the references to nuclear weapons being readied in 30 minutes was not only wrong but in any event was only a reference to battlefield weapons.

Then we’ve got Gordon Brown who makes much of his religious upbringing but has been associated with the vilest smear campaigns – and I don’t just mean the latest episode – he has a history of doing this to his political rivals “red on red”. Methinks Gordon’s "moral compass" is more of a spin machine and he wouldn’t recognize the moral high ground if he tripped over it.
