Photo: recalling lines. Recalling Lines, new work by Robert Reddick at Trongate 103

Friday 6 August - Saturday 18 December

Tuesday to Saturday 10am-5pm

Opening Thursday 5 August 2010, 6pm-9pm

Recalling Lines is an exhibition containing new works by Glasgow based artist Robert Reddick.

The exhibition combines Reddick's most recent work, which has been produced since Project Ability moved premises less than a year ago. Since the move, Reddick has been enthusiastically filling his sketchbook with drawings from distant memories and photographs, as well as drawing views from the many aspects the new studio offers.

Reddick's current body of work explores the performance of drawing. Tracing his surroundings, Reddick combines his interest in wildlife with images of cityscapes, including a series of images from the Trongate area of Glasgow.

Shaky lines have characterized Reddick's drawing style over the years, effectively revealing and rearranging forms and shapes. Recalling Lines layers content and loosely arranges Reddick's monumental drawing capacity; exploring the performance of looking and the process of reflecting. Images, which are often drawn directly from his memory, loosely sketch out Reddick's own visual ecosystem of thoughts and associations.

Robert Reddick has been coming to Project Ability workshops for the last 10 years. Recalling Lines is Reddick's second solo show with Project Ability, the first taking place in 2006. Reddick joined Art trek and friends in 2009. He also showed his work in Collins Gallery earlier this year as part of Myscape. Robert Reddick has exhibited internationally and was last year selected for 2009 "Outsider Art" biennale in Sweden. Project Ability showed a selection of works from this Outsider Art Biennale in April 2010 in the exhibition New Work from Europe.

Water moving branches in arcs across the silt, the ground disturbed by deer in systematically worn paths, twigs bend in unison by the wind suggesting its the walks and the acute perception of small moments that catch him. Fragments and tell tale signs of unknown beings. Phenomenon that would go un-noticed if it where not for the eye. Archaeology allows us to walk a mile in his shoes and join in the adventure.

Fields, Factories and Workshops

CCA, Sauchiehall Street.

Saturday 7 August - Saturday 18 September, 2010

This exhibition by Simon Yuill brings together three projects that, in different ways, address the relationship between people's ability to make use of space, either through occupancy or mobility, and the relationship of these to legal processes, such as the ability to form self-defined social groupings that have some form of 'political' power.

The works employ a variety of media, including sound, film, internet, software and print publications, and are often created as resources for others to make use of.

1:00am - 6:00pm: FREE

Venue: CCA 1 / CCA 2 / CCA 3

All ages.

Photo: Ken Palmer by Robert Burns. Ken Palmer, Artist 1944 - December, 2009.

It's hard to convey in any few, trite sentences just what sort of guy he really was. Generous, kind, unfailingly helpful to people of all kinds - but particularly artists - and unswervingly passionate about painting, especially Scottish painting, Glasgow artists and the pivotal role he was convinced this great city was and is playing in European contemporary art development. Roy Beers.

After graduating from Glasgow School of Art in 1966 Ken Palmer went on to achieve a great deal in the world of art, both at home in Glasgow and in Europe. We are proud and happy to have the full catalogue of artist Ken Palmer's work on our website.

Born in Derry, N.Ireland and currently living in Scotland, John Deery has always had a passion for Art and takes it with him wherever he goes. He enjoys working in a variety of media, from watercolour to oils, although most of my work now features acrylic paint and mixed media. His passion for travel and adventure has given John a love of landscapes, and the world's ever changing and wildly varied surfaces are the focus of much of his work. He currently paints, plays music and works as an art teacher in Glasgow.

Chris Smith | Mon Mar 30 2009

Hi There, Stumbled on this site by accident. I am keen to take up drawing/painting and wondered if there are any classes available. I live near the west end/finneston - walking distance to classes would be ideal.

anne flaherty | Wed Mar 18 2009

I wonder if anyone knows of any art clubs or art groups around the west end of Glasgow. I'd like to join one. I paint with oils and acrylics.

Debbie | Wed Feb 11 2009

Hi! I am looking for artists who would be prepared to paint Glasgow's streets and homes with a view to create a database where people could find and buy paintings of where they live. Is anyone interested in joining this original venture? If you are, e-mail me a picture of your work and a contact number or e-mail address. Mine is val64@tiscali.co.uk

Hi there. I am not sure if this is the right forum for my enquiry but i wondered if you could offer any advice. I would like to take up drawing and painting. At school (many years ago ) I did have a bit of a flair for art and need someone to point me in the right direction. Do you know of any evening classes that might suit me?

Pamela McDaid | Tue Jul 15 2008

Hi Lynne Thanks for providing this very informative site. Over the past year or so I have started to get back into painting and I feel it's time for me to get off my backside and at least try to ehibit. Your site will be of great help to me in this respect I am sure. Any information, tips, contact, would be much appreciated. Thanks again Lynne. Regards Bill McManus

I am vice-president of Bearsden Art Club. We keen to have local artists come to our monthly meeting to give a short demonstration of their painting methods. Demo would last from 1hr.to 1:20. We normally pay around £80.00 plus expenses. Would any of your artists be interested ?

maureen mcintosh | Wed Jan 23 2008

To whom it may concern, I am young, local artist, working to raise support for a voluntary internship I will begin in July. I am enquiring about the possibility of a small space to display a very small selection of my work. Failing that, an information stand or flyer distribution would also be much appreciated, to increase support and raise the profile of the project I am working for and of my work. Please inform me of any possibility to take part in an exhibition, or any other more suitable events. Thank-you, Hannah McCall www.myspace.com/hannahmccallart Information about the project I am working for can be found at: www.soulinthecitydurban.com

I have just found this site. It is really useful. Can anyone recommend a printer in Glasgow, or elsewhere, for getting good quality prints made from original paintings at a reasonable price ? Any recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hello Lynne, I stumbled on to your excellent site by good luck rather than skill. I exhibited on the railings and the Hillhead Library some years ago. I stopped due to health problems and living in France half the year. I would to recommence. Looking forward to hearing from you. Eva

Eva Sinclair | Mon Sep 10 2007

Is it possible to exhibit/sell some of my art on the railings in the next few months? I am not a professional artist and just paint as a hobby. I have had a few commissions to date and am interested in becoming more serious in painting. Seana
