Another catastrophic fire at Glasgow School of Art

Recommended Posts

Unbelievable that just four years after the fire at GSA that last night there was another fire there.  It was looking as though the refurbishment was nearly finished and now this disaster. The ABC music venue was also damaged.
It's not clear what caused the fire but terrible blow to the city and the people who are so attached to this iconic Mackintosh building.
This is how things stand at present:

I hear that David Mundell has had to confirm to the police that he did not leave his underpants at the GSA

Certainly much worse than last time but facade may be able to be saved.  Very upsetting.

Plenty of questions need answered by the construction company but also by the GSA Management board led by Murial Gray.  Someone made the decision not to go with temporary sprinklers.

Apparently the facade is going to stand. Will be a costly business to restore. Apparently the sprinklers were just about to go in.

Should have been the first thing they installed.  See you mention the grab and sale of Scottish crown estate property by UK Government. That would come in handy to fix the art school.

Very sad. Big loss for the city. Why those sprinklers were not installed super fast, I have no idea.
