Learning Tapestry - National Conference 12th and 13th May
East meets West
and Evening Concert
Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, 12 and 13th May, 2005
This year’s conference carries forward Tapestry’s headline themes of Creativity and Music and the Mind into a new and important perspective: 'East Meets West'. The fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 symbolically marked the end of a division between cultures which had lasted most of a century. For education, there was a wonderful opportunity to bring together the Western brain and mind led experience with challenging creative and cognitive-based learning in the East. The conference looks at how far we have succeeded in pulling the threads together. There are world-leading figures in education from both East and West, as well as from Israel, where a powerful synthesis of the two traditions has existed for some time. The conference will mark the beginning of a second wave of development for Tapestry, with follow-up workshops, seminars, modules, teachers packs and a ground-breaking research programme for Music and the Mind.
