Police hunt West End gay rape beast

Detectives have issued an urgent appeal for information after a man was raped in Dowanhill early on Friday morning (November 30).

The 25-year-old victim was walking close to Dowanhill Park, near Hyndland Street and Highburgh Road, some time between midnight and 2am, when he approached a man and asked for a cigarette.

The burly stranger, who?s said to have an east coast accent, then raped him before fleeing the scene.

The suspect is said to be white and about 6ft, in his early 20?s, with fair hair.

He was wearing a long black jacket and had a satchel-type bag worn across his body.

Detective Inspector Steven Watson, West End CID, said: "I would ask that anyone who saw someone fitting the description and, or, acting suspiciously to contact police."

"I am particularly keen to speak with a young man aged about 20 to 25, with a Glasgow accent, wearing a light coloured hooded top, who the victim approached shortly after the incident."
