Charles Rennie Mackintosh Festival
Glasgow Mackintosh Festival 2006
Charles Rennie Macintosh is arguably Glasgow's most important architect. He has left the city a rich heritage of impressive buildings characterised by his unique and timeless approach to design. Both the man and his work are celebrated with the new Glasgow Mackintosh Festival.
Over 100 events have been organised and whilst the main focus is on September, there is plenty to see throughout the year. Highlights include the relaunch of Kelvingrove Art Gallery; the centenary of Scotland Street School Museum; 10th Anniversary of House for an Art Lover and the first-ever exhibition of the work of Mackintosh's close contemporaries, Frances Macdonald and J.Herbert McNair. An extensive events programme of performance, children's activities, talks, tours, walks and study days offers something for everyone.
