The Vision
The vision is to build Woodlands into an attractive and creative community where people connect with each other and thrive. Central to this is the Community Garden on West Princes Street. The garden has twice been named the Best Community Garden in the UK, winning praise for successful integration of social wellbeing and the environment.
The Community Garden is now 13 years old and some of its original infrastructure is in need of a refresh. Since the pandemic the profile of the garden users has changed, and more people with mobility and other access needs are coming to the garden to improve their health and wellbeing. There’s also been a real expansion in early years work and with families with pre-school age children. The garden’s original design didn’t fully take account of accessibility needs, and Woodlands Community is working with disability experts to advise on improvements they can make.
Your support will enable the garden to continue to grow and be used by people of all ages, backgrounds and mobilities.
