“Drag @ The Bandstand” Lights Up Kelvingrove Bandstand as Part of WestFest 2024
WestFest are delighted to announce the return of ‘Drag @ The Bandstand’, taking place at Kelvingrove Bandstand on Sunday 9th June as part of WestFest 2024.
As with their hugely successful event in 2022, the WestFest team can guarantee an evening of fierce performances, lip-syncs, belly laughs, fabulous costumes, and unapologetic self-expression.
The evening will be hosted by drag legend- Cheri Treiffel and will feature the best of the Glasgow Drag scene with queens such as Garry King, Rujazzle, Geezah Gobble, Skinnie Minnie, Rome Mosaic and Bonnie Banks.
Tickets for Drag @ The Bandstand are on sale now, priced at £20, and all proceeds will go towards funding WestFest’s free ‘Big Sunday’ daytime event on 9th June, ensuring that the festival remains free and accessible to all members of the community.
WestFest’s Director is Brendon McIlroy who founded the festival in 2022 in response to ‘overwhelming demand’ for community and cultural events in the West End, in the absence of former festivals
Brendon says, ‘This years’ WestFest is shaping up beautifully and we’re looking forward to announcing our 2024 programme on 19th April. Ahead of that we’re excited to be launching our Drag @ the Bandstand fundraiser. All proceeds will go towards covering costs for our free Big Sunday event which we’ll be announcing shortly’
Brendon continues’ Drag is something that’s really entered the mainstream in recent years and for us it represents what the festival is all about in terms of creativity, self-expression and diversity. We’re delighted to be able to bring an evening of drag and cabaret to the bandstand again’.
