Top Hat at GFT
Friday 14 – Wednesday 19 July, 2023
This 1935 classic starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers was nominated for four Oscars and is widely regarded as the dance pair’s best film. Showman Jerry Travers (Astaire) is working for producer Horace Hardwick (Edward Everett Horton) in London. Jerry demonstrates his new dance moves late one night in Horace’s hotel, much to the annoyance of sleeping Dale Tremont (Rogers) below. When she goes upstairs to complain, the sparks fly.
