The Clade family are farmers of a fuel source known as Pando, in the land of Avalonia. Searcher Clade (Jake Gyllenhall) discovered this powerful plant when he was an adventurer with his father, Jaeger (Dennis Quaid). The adventuring life is long behind him until Callisto Mai (Lucy Liu) asks Searcher to journey below their world to explore a threat to Pando. All of the Clades end up embarking on this adventure together, and come across mysterious lands and lifeforms whilst also trying to navigate complicated family dynamics.
