Reclaim the Night Botanic Gardens
25 November, 2015 6 pm
Join us in our annual reclaim the night march to mark the start of the 16 days of action for the elimination of violence against women. All welcome! Come along to show your support.
We meet at 6pm at the Botanics gardens on Great Western Road for a march and Rally. This is an annual awareness raising event that marks the start of the 16 days of activism that highlights violence against women as a breach of human rights.
We gather just opposite the Botanic gardens at Ruskin Lane at 6pm for the march at 6:30. The procession will be led by Shebooms drums and will go down Byres Rd, University Avenue, Gibson Street to the STUC building where the rally will take place. We have Dame Denis Mina and Susan Calman who are both speaking about why they chose to be patrons of Glasgow Rape Crisis Centre. We also have Emma Ritch, executive director of Engender, who will be speaking about why we still need centres for women affected by gender based violence 40 years after the first centres opened their doors.
