Preview: The Man Who Killed Don Quixote + Recorded Q&A GFT
Thursday 23 January, 2020 (19.45)
It’s the film that has taken Terry Gilliam 20 years to make. His first attempt to bring Miguel de Cervante’s novel to the big screen was famously left incomplete and the final result is far from a straightforward adaptation.
Adam Driver plays film director Toby, who is attempting to film his own adaptation of Don Quixote, but we also witness flashbacks to an earlier version of his film starring Jonathan Pryce, and a hallucinatory dream world where characters from both narratives converge. This is the latest in a long line of excellent roles for Driver, who enjoyed a double-whammy of leading roles in the GFT line up back in November with Marriage Story and The Report.
Special preview screening will be followed by a recorded Q&A with director and co-writer Terry Gilliam.
