Kinning Park Complex
The festival kicks off at Kinning Park Complex with music producer and master turntablist Bunty, a veteran of Glasgow’s hip-hop scene and Sapien -fresh off painting at SWG3’s Yardworks Festival, will be showing off his graffiti skills before a screening of hip hop 80s classic Wild Style
Highlights at The Glad Cafe
Highlights at The Glad Cafe over the weekend include a fundraising screening for SCND of Atomic directed by Mark Cousins with a score by Mogwai with short film Benchmark 6about Faslane to mark the 60th anniversary of CND, a screening of the silent archive film Let Glasgow Flourish by the legendary Dawn Cine Group before a screening of Dispossession about the social housing crisis in London and Glasgow, a live performance by Richard Youngs to some seminal silent shorts that have influenced many filmmakers including a film that inspired Lynne Ramsay to go to film school!
The Yurt
The yurt is also back at New Victoria Gardens -theCinemor77 cinema yurt will be around all weekend with a range of films for young and old!
Govanhill Baths
Also back in the main swimming pool of Govanhill Baths for another late night horror screening on Saturday night -don’t miss The Fog (there may even be a fog machine for extra atmos!)
Lanside Church Hall
A new venue this year – Langside Church Hall on Ledard Rd in Battlefield where there will be a special morning PJs screening of Sing with new screening partner Langside Kids -just roll out of bed and come along in your PJs!
There will be a relaxed dementia friendly screening of Meet Me In St Louis and all are welcome to come along.
Loks
While at Loks on Sunday there will be an autism friendly screeningof Paddington 2 and the French new wave classic 400 Blows (Les Quatre Cent Coups) to be (re) discovered and supported by festival partners Alliance Francaise Glasgow.
Festival Finale
The festival will close with annual support for local filmmakers with the Southside Filmmaker Screening and Award (voted for by the audience) and local feature film Starcache made by Southside filmmaker Douglas Sannachan.
