Marlina the Murderer in Four Acts, GFT
13 – 19 April, 2018
Welcome to the wild, wild east. Director Mouly Surya delivers a spaghetti western with a strong Indonesian flavour in this stunning revenge drama. Marlina (Marsha Timothy) is a young widow living alone in a remote farmhouse and when arrogant, marauding robbers arrive, they feel entitled to take whatever they please. The quick-witted Marlina has very different ideas, which play out in a clever, subversive widescreen saga filled with splendid characters, and a terrific musical score that would make Ennio Morricone proud.
