John Lafferty: Barca to Borrheid
Charity Cycle
‘This year I am undertaking the biggest cycle ride of my life so far. (that leaves the option of bigger ones later) I’ll be leaving for Barcelona with my bike in a box on 9th March and after a night in the city I’ll be heading home via Blanes, Figueres, Perpignan, Narbonne, Beziers, Toulouse, Bordeaux, Nantes, Rennes, Cherbourg, Rosslare, Dublin, Belfast, Larne and Troon. Check it out on a map of Europe. It’s roughly 1600 miles and will take me five or six weeks. It won’t be easy and to make it worthwhile I’ve set up a donation page on justgiving. I’ve chosen three charities which resonate with me personally for various reasons but you can choose one or other to donate to. The charities will benefit from any donations large or small and I will be grateful for your support and good wishes on my trip. I’ll be setting up some sort of blog or other means to keep you all updated on my progress so wish me luck and dig deep to give if you can.’
‘Incidentally I still think it’s atrocious that people in dire straits have to depend on charity in a world where there is so much wealth but we have to face reality and it seems the only way as things are presently structured.’
To donate:
People have been very generous – please keep donating even if goal achieved.
