CARL DREYER’S CLASSIC SILENT FILM WITH LIVE SCORE BY IRENE BUCKLEY
With its stunning camerawork and striking compositions, Carl Dreyer’s ‘The Passion of Joan of Arc’ convinced the world that film could be art. An original live score has been composed by the Irish composer Irene Buckley for soprano, organ and electronics, using the stucture and text of the Requiem Mass.
Orginally commissioned by the Cork French Film Festival, this pro- duction has had sold out several performances, and the Cathedral’s gothic grandeur provides the perfect backdrop for this dramatic evening. Irene Buckley will be joined by soprano Cheryl Enever and organist James McVinnie, an internationally renowned soloist and collaborator in new music.
