Jackie Kay reads Maud Sulter

Jackie Kay, award-winning writer will be at Pollok House on 6th November to discuss the significance of Maud Sulter’s cultural legacy and how Sulter has inspired her own work. This event is part of the programme for the new special exhibition Maud Sulter: Memory and Identity. Jackie will read selections of her own work as well as Maud Sulter’s and will take questions from the audience.
This event opens at 2 p.m., guests are invited to visit the special exhibition on the top floor of the house before moving to the Billiard room to hear Jackie speak at 3 p.m.
Jackie Kay was born and brought up in Scotland. She is the author of—among other books—The Adoption Papers, which won the Forward Prize, Red Dust Road, winner of the Scottish Book of the Year Award, Trumpet, and the Costa-shortlisted Fiere. She was the third Makar, or National Poet for Scotland (2016-2021), a former Chancellor of the University of Salford and Professor of Creative Writing at Newcastle University.

Exhibition of the work of internationally renowned Glaswegian-Ghanaian artist Maud Sulter (1960–2008) at Pollok House in Glasgow.
The Maud Sulter exhibition at Pollok House runs from 15 October–4 December 2022 and 6–15 January 2023.
