RSC Henry IV part 1 (RSC Live)

Following his production of Richard II in October 2013, RSC Artistic Director Gregory Doran continues his exploration of Shakespeare’s history plays with Henry IV Parts I and II, an epic, comic and thrilling vision of a nation in turmoil. RSC Associate Artist Antony Sher returns to the Company to play the infamous comic knight Falstaff. He is joined by Jasper Britton as Henry IV and Alex Hassell as Prince Hal. Jasper returns following his performance as the Marquis de Sade in Marat/Sade (2011); Alex returns to the RSC following his recent credits in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Cardenio and The City Madam. With his crown under threat from enemies both foreign and domestic, Henry IV prepares for war. Having deposed the previous king, he is only too aware of the tenuousness of his position, and of the price to be paid if he falters. As his father prepares to defend his crown, Prince Hal is languishing in the taverns and brothels of London, revelling in the company of his friend, the notorious Sir John Falstaff. With the onset of the war, Hal and Falstaff are thrust into the brutal reality of the battlefield, where Hal must confront his responsibilities to family and throne.

The Trip to Italy + satellite Q&A with Coogan & Brydon

Reprising the formula of director Michael Winterbottom’s hit BBC TV series The Trip, comedians Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon travel the length of Italy reviewing toothsome restaurants for The Observer. While this nominally offers us endless high-end food porn, THE TRIP TO ITALY is of course a chance for its two stars to engage in constant, gently argumentative and inevitably hilarious banter. While taking in the restaurants of Liguria, Tuscany, Rome, Amalfi and Capri, they talk about life, love, work, exile, Byron and Shelley in this leftfield comedy gem. This special event, exclusive to cinemas, reunites the two stars to bring their inimitable banter live, as they discuss the popular series and take questions from the audience.

NT Encore: The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time (NT Encore)

Following its smash-hit live broadcast in 2012, the National Theatre production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time returns to cinemas. Based on the acclaimed novel by Mark Haddon, adapted by Simon Stephens and directed by Marianne Elliott, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time has been hailed by The Times as ‘a phenomenal combination of storytelling and spectacle’. Winner of 7 Olivier Awards in 2013, including Best New Play. Christopher, fifteen years old, has an extraordinary brain – exceptional at maths while ill-equipped to interpret everyday life. When he falls under suspicion of killing Mrs Shears’ dog Wellington, he records each fact about the event in the book he is writing to solve the mystery of the murder. But his detective work, forbidden by his father, takes him on a frightening journey that upturns his world.

In Fear / All the Boys Love Mandy Lane (Double Bill)

We welcome back Blood Red Horror Nights with their next presentation: a double bill of IN FEAR and ALL THE BOYS LOVE MANDY LANE. IN FEAR (15) IN FEAR is a tense psychological horror about a young couple’s fight to make it through the night. Home invasion, but in a car. And in real time. Tom and Lucy are trapped in a maze of country roads with only their vehicle for protection, terrorised by an unseen tormentor hell-bent on exploiting their worst fears. Driving and lost in the night, primal fears of the dark and the unknown give way to fear that you have let evil in, or that it is already here. ALL THE BOYS LOVE MANDY LANE (18) Starring Amber Heard, ALL THE BOYS LOVE MANDY LANE is about a group of high-schoolers who invite Mandy Lane, a ‘good girl’ who becomes the object of everyone’s affection after returning from summer break, to a weekend party at a secluded ranch. While the festivities rage on, the number of revelers begins to mysteriously drop one at a time.
