Glasgow Cinema: Starred Up, GFT until 3rd April
Starred Up18
- GFT, 12 Rose Street
- Friday 21 March – Thursday 3 April
A complex father/son relationship is viewed through a brutal depiction of prison life in Starred Up, one of the most powerful and assured films of David Mackenzie’s career. Jack O’Connell gives an extraordinary performance as Eric, a young offender so aggressive and unpredictable that he is prematurely moved to an adult prison. His fellow inmates include the father he hasn’t seen since he was five. An increasingly tense situation ensues in which Eric fights to be true to himself. GFF14
Specially commissioned programme notes are available for this film.
Check out this brilliant video from GFF14, where actor Jack O’Connell, writer Jonathan Asser and Director David Mackenzie took part in a Q&A following the film’s Scottish premiere.
