Calvary
After being told he will be murdered in one week’s time Father James Lavelle (Brendan Gleeson) finds himself with seven days to determine his would be killer and put his affairs in order. Prevented by the “seal of confessional” from going to the police, Father Lavelle opts to engage with and tries to understand his small minded and morally scurrilous parishioners with the hope of dissuading the one amongst them intent on his death. Set against the stunning beauty of Ireland’s West Coast comes a darkly comic thriller from writer director John Michael McDonagh (THE GUARD) starring Brendan Gleeson (THE GUARD), Kelly Reilly (SHERLOCK HOLMES), Domhnall Gleeson (ABOUT TIME), Chris O’Dowd (BRIDESMAIDS) Dylan Moran (BLACK BOOKS) and Aidan Gillen (GAME OF THRONES).

10 Things I Hate About You
Late Greats are back at the Grosvenor! This month, we welcome the wonderful 10 THINGS I HATE ABOUT YOU to our screen. Bianca Stratford is pretty and popular, but her strict family won’t allow her to date until her older sister Kat does: the problem is that Kat is an outsider who tries to alienate any guy who might be interested in her. So Bianca’s would-be boyfriend bribes fellow outsider Patrick to ask out Kat, thinking that this sullen young man with a mysterious past might tempt Kat to rise to the challenge. The film, a modernization of Shakespeare’s The Taming of the Shrew, is titled after a poem written by Kat to describe her bittersweet romance with Patrick. The film was released in 1999, and it was a breakout success for its stars Julia Stiles, Heath Ledger and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2D)
It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.

RSC Henry IV part 1 (RSC Live)
Following his production of Richard II in October 2013, RSC Artistic Director Gregory Doran continues his exploration of Shakespeare’s history plays with Henry IV Parts I and II, an epic, comic and thrilling vision of a nation in turmoil. RSC Associate Artist Antony Sher returns to the Company to play the infamous comic knight Falstaff. He is joined by Jasper Britton as Henry IV and Alex Hassell as Prince Hal. Jasper returns following his performance as the Marquis de Sade in Marat/Sade (2011); Alex returns to the RSC following his recent credits in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Cardenio and The City Madam. With his crown under threat from enemies both foreign and domestic, Henry IV prepares for war. Having deposed the previous king, he is only too aware of the tenuousness of his position, and of the price to be paid if he falters. As his father prepares to defend his crown, Prince Hal is languishing in the taverns and brothels of London, revelling in the company of his friend, the notorious Sir John Falstaff. With the onset of the war, Hal and Falstaff are thrust into the brutal reality of the battlefield, where Hal must confront his responsibilities to family and throne.

In Fear / All the Boys Love Mandy Lane (Double Bill)
We welcome back Blood Red Horror Nights with their next presentation: a double bill of IN FEAR and ALL THE BOYS LOVE MANDY LANE. IN FEAR (15) IN FEAR is a tense psychological horror about a young couple’s fight to make it through the night. Home invasion, but in a car. And in real time. Tom and Lucy are trapped in a maze of country roads with only their vehicle for protection, terrorised by an unseen tormentor hell-bent on exploiting their worst fears. Driving and lost in the night, primal fears of the dark and the unknown give way to fear that you have let evil in, or that it is already here. ALL THE BOYS LOVE MANDY LANE (18) Starring Amber Heard, ALL THE BOYS LOVE MANDY LANE is about a group of high-schoolers who invite Mandy Lane, a ‘good girl’ who becomes the object of everyone’s affection after returning from summer break, to a weekend party at a secluded ranch. While the festivities rage on, the number of revelers begins to mysteriously drop one at a time.
