Desdemona, Glasgow Comedy Festival, Govanhill Baths 22 – 26 March, 2016

Desdemona: A Play About a Handkerchief
Paula Vogel turns Shakespeare’s ‘Othello’ on its head. Instead of an innocent and sweet Desdemona, we get a young woman who is used to having her own way and has sampled just about every soldier in the barracks (except, ironically Cassio). And, unlike the original, Emilia is staunchly loyal to Iago and Bianca is at once worldly and naive, hopeful of a future where she can marry Cassio.
