The fascinating story of artist Lili Elbe, one of the first people in history to undergo gender reassignment surgery. We meet Lili when she is still Einar Wegener, a successful artist in 1920s Copenhagen, married to fellow artist Gerde. As the realisation of her true identity dawns on Lili, both she and Gerde find their relationship tested to its limits. This painterly, poignant drama features outstanding, Oscar-nominated performances from Eddie Redmayne and Alicia Vikander.
