Stuart Paterson: Writer’s Blog.

Stuart A. Paterson was born in 1966 and brought up in Ayrshire. He founded and edited the international poetry and prose review Spectrum, from 1989 to 1996. Stuart’s first collection, Saving Graces, was published by Diehard (Poetry Scotland) in 1997 and nominated for a Saltire Society ‘First Book’ award.

His work has appeared on television and in many publications, including Dream State: The New Scottish Poets (Polygon), The Poets’ Book of Days (Random House), Scottish Literature in the Twentieth Century (Scottish Cultural Press) and The Forward Book of Poetry (Sinclair-Stevenson), as well as in newspapers and magazines in the UK, USA, Europe, South Africa & Australia. He was Dumfries & Galloway Writer-in-Residence 1996-98.

He has won various awards, including the UK Small Presses Poetry Slam in Birmingham in 1997. Recently he was awarded a Robert Louis Stevenson Fellowship by the Scottish Book Trust, enabling him to spend November 2014 at the Scandinavian arts retreat, Hotel Chevillon, in Grez sur Loing. He writes in Scots, English sometimes the pub.
