Bob Law’s Blog: A Cold Snap
November 2022 may have been unseasonably mild but the first two weeks of December 2022 more than made up for that.
For ten or more days in a row we had sub zero temperatures during the day falling to between minus five to minus ten degrees even within towns and cities.

After a week of this deep freeze I decided to go a walk through my local area to see how the wildlife was getting on. I took the bus to Gartnavel Hospital and Binghams’ Pond, which was frozen solid then walked through the Botanic Gardens and down the River Kelvin Gorge to Partick.
River Kelvin

The River Kelvin was iced up in places bank to bank and freezing fog added an atmosphere of tantalizing mystery to familiar sights.

It was a good day out and not too treacherous underfoot for walking.
