Stage, Screen and Page – P. K. Lynch talks Trainspotting, Texas and the Creative Process
Pauline ‘P.K.’ Lynch has a long history of involvement with the Scottish cultural scene. After starring in Danny Boyle’s cinematic adaption of Irvine Welsh’s controversial novel, Trainspotting, Lynch gravitated to the stage and scripted a number of successful plays, before publishing her novel, Armadillos (2016). Armadillos is a tale of survival in the face of extreme abuse, told from the perspective of a young Texan girl. It garnered critical acclaim and won the Sceptre Prize for Fiction, with Jeanette Winterson, among others, hailing it as a must-read.
Possessing a creative process honed across stage, screen, and page, Lynch will detail her methods of writing and research, as well as discussing her career, what the future holds, and just how she, as a Glaswegian mother of two, came to write such a chillingly authentic account of one young American girl’s tribulations under the scorching Texas sun.
