Glasgow Gigs and Concerts: Commonwealth Celebration Concert – Let Glasgow Flourish, City Halls 8th March
Commonwealth Celebration Concert – Let Glasgow Flourish
Sat 8 March, 7:30pm
£10
City Halls, Grand Hall
Glasgow Orchestral Society celebrates its home city’s hosting of the XX Commonwealth Games, and just before Commonwealth Week 2014 begins, they present a programme featuring some great Scottish music, including a specially commissioned new work by John Maxwell Geddes, the fanfare: Let Glasgow Flourish. Glasgow’s largest, longest-established amateur orchestra will be joined in the second half by a chorus of singers assembled from across the Glasgow area, as well as the NYCoS Renfrewshire area children’s choir, in a dazzling performance of Carl Orff’s popular, rollicking choral work Carmina Burana.
