Attracted by a beautiful window display with a range of enticing products, whilst coincidentally shopping for some birthday presents, I found myself browsing and buying in La Coco. Within the space of a few weeks I had returned three times and I'm delighted to have come across this wonderful little shop prior to starting some serious Christmas shopping. With a selection of stylish jewellery, scarves, novelties, beautiful cards and gifts for all the family - it is a true treasure trove.

La Coco seems to reflect the qualities of the young owner, Heather Docherty, not only is the wide array of products presented with great charm and good taste, but the shop has a particularly friendly and welcoming ambience. You feel that you can browse till your heart's content and ask any question, which is sure to be answered clearly and with a smile.

Photo: red bag. Apart from her obvious aptitudes this attractive and naturally pleasant young woman has other assets up her sleeve as, a Business Graduate, she has clearly applied her learning to some advantage. The shop is well stocked with a fantastic variety of unusual, well priced and enticing gifts and collectibles; since Heather took over running La Coco a year ago it has gone from strength to strength.

She has many regular customers, whom she addresses by name. More and more commuters to'ing and fro'ing from Partick Station drop by to choose cards from her impressive displays and pick up gifts for friends, babies, brides and loved ones.

Photo: byzantium collection. La Coco has a fantastic collection of jewellery, Bedazzled (made in the same factory as the Pilgrim range), 'Tales from the Earth', 'Anna Lou of London', 'Byzantium Collection', which is made with crystallized swaraski elements and sterling silver. Some of the prices are amazing and there are beautiful sparkling boxed earrings from only £6.99.

I bought my niece a beatiful silk scarf, also very carefully boxed, it took me quite a while to choose from the wonderful selection of aquas, violets, pinks and turquoise. New in stock are some 'Ladycrow Silks', this range of scarves are handmade in Scotland so ideal for sending a gift to a friend overseas.

In stock are some amazing bags from 'littleearth' - just perfect for followers of fashion. The bags and purses from Claudia Canova are very stylish and colourful - I have my eye on a large deep red patent bag - sure to brighten up any outfit during the winter - as will the lovely Christmas decorations now in stock.

Photo: quakers collectible ducks. There is a wee section of the shop full of baby gifts and novelties, the 'Grandparents Boasting Book', where you keep those precious photographs sounds like a good idea. Other attractive novelies include a decorative birth certificate holder and the Quaker Ducks will bring a smile to the faces of both babies and parents.

The Wedding Section also has some very tempting, and useful, gifts. I love the Mindy Weiss collection and a lovely wee minder for someone would be the His and Her soaps and washcloths. In addition to gifts and momentoes for the couple there are gifts for bridesmaids.

The shop not only looks pretty fantastic - it smells wonderful. Could be something to do with the vast range of scented candles, which Heather has on display.
