Tuesday 28–Wednesday 29 October
The second of three English-language films that Antonioni directed for producer Carlo Ponti – the others being the classics Blow-Up and The Passenger – Zabriskie Point has gained a cult status in the forty-four years following its initial commercial failure. It follows student Daria and dropout Mark (wanted for allegedly killing a policeman during a student riot) as they meet mysteriously in Zabriskie Point, Death Valley. With music from Pink Floyd and Jerry Garcia, this is a free-spirited portrait of a shamelessly idealistic generation.
