Woodlands Community Anti-Racist Film Club: screening Taxi Tehran
Tuesday 28th November, 2023 5.30-9pm
Flourish House, 23-25 Ashley Street, Glasgow G3 6DR
November’s offering for the Woodlands Community Anti-Racist Film Club is a comedy drama about a director banned from making films who takes to driving a taxi fitted with a camera around Tehran, discussing social challenges in Iran with his passengers. Based on the director’s own circumstances, this is the third film director Jafar Panahi has released in semi-clandestine conditions.
After the screening there will be time to discuss the film and surrounding issues. The film club aims to be a place of support and belonging for People of Colour and a place where white allies can take responsibility for their own learning. Hoping to raise searching questions and explore issues in a supportive environment. It’s OK to make mistakes but please own your mistakes.
As this is the last screening of the year, people are invited to bring food for a pot luck celebration. Please label your dish to inform those with dietary restrictions. There is, however, no obligation to bring food. Some light refreshments will be provided.
The screening will take place at Flourish House. This is a wheelchair accessible space. The film will be captioned.
Flourish House is a short walk from a First Bus no.4 bus stop and St George’s Cross subway station. There are limited parking spaces directly outside the building along with parking payment meters.
Timing:
5.30pm – doors open
6pm – screening starts
8pm – discussion
