It’s never too late to sing lullabies with family. Even though Loudon III’s daughters, Martha Wainwright and Lucy Wainwright Roche, were sung to sleep by different mothers, Kate McGarrigle and Suzzy Roche both ranked among their era’s re-definitive female folk artists – and sang with their sisters.
This potent artistic legacy – abundantly evident in the half-sisters’ solo careers – resounds afresh through their first duo album, Songs in the Dark, reprising favourite lullabies alongside other childhood classics.
Revered as a Midas-touch producer by stars including Paul McCartney, Ryan Adams and Ray LaMontagne, Ethan Johns steps out here in his singer-songwriter hat, performing tracks from new third album Silver Liner.
