The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou – 35 mm
Monday 29 & Wednesday 31 May, 2023
Part of our CineMasters: Wes Anderson season
Internationally famous oceanographer Steve Zissou (Bill Murray) and his crew set sail on an expedition to hunt down the mysterious, elusive, possibly non-existent Jaguar Shark that killed Zissou’s partner, Estaban, during the documentary filming of their latest adventure. They are joined on their voyage by a young airline co-pilot who may or may not be Zissou’s son, a beautiful journalist assigned to write a profile of Zissou, and Zissou’s estranged wife and co-producer Eleanor.
One of Wes Anderson’s most fanciful and iconic films, combining stop-motion and live action, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou demonstrates once again his aptitude at handling ensemble casts.
