Story for Hallowe’en – The Denny Tank Ghost
The tap, tap of a walking stick, the smell of cigar smoke, the clanking of keys in the lock of a door no longer there. Only sounds and smells. But everyone knows who it is. Mr. Peter Denny Jr., probably the best known ghost in Dumbarton. There is actually disagreement over which Denny boss haunts but Peter is the favourite contender. It is said that Peter would return to his works late at night to check all was well and that occasionally he still feels the need to return. Many people claim to have heard him. Some will not stay in the present Scottish Maritime Museum by themselves. But there has never been any malevolence. He is a benign ghost.
