Southside Film Festival and Glasgow International Comedy Festival 2016

Bringing some joy and joviality to the Southside
As part of Glasgow International Comedy Festival, they’re screening some much-loved comedy classics at Govanhill Baths on Friday 11th and Saturday 12th of March.
Kicking us off on the Friday night will be Ben Stiller’s zany fashion spoof Zoolander. With the hotly anticipated sequel Zoolander 2 released today, we take a look back to where it all started – so prepare yourself for guyliner, snakeskin suits, and lots of pouting.
Saturday afternoon offers a double-feature screening of the Marx Brothers’ anarchic Duck Soup, followed by some fast-talking reporters in Howard Hawks’ razor-sharp screwball comedy, His Girl Friday. Boasting two of the most accomplished scripts in cinema, expect endless zingers and rapid-fire putdowns in these two choice cuts from Hollywood’s Golden Age.
Finally, complete your Saturday night with Mel Brooks’ hysterical satire of the Old West, Blazing Saddles. Frequently named one of the funniest films ever made, Brooks’ unique blend of slapstick, cutting wit, and those notorious campfire beans left the Western looking never quite the same again!
This is the second year Southside Film has worked in partnership with Govanhill Baths Community Trust to bring you some raucous cinematic entertainment: last year saw the Baths packed out with legendary cult classic Withnail & I and brilliant documentary American: The Bill Hicks Story. Make sure to get your ticket fast and don’t miss out on a side-splitting weekend of screenings!
