What's On at Woodlands Community Garden

Added on Thursday 18 Nov 2010

We will in the community garden again this weekend on Saturday 20th November from 12 - sunset and Sunday 21st November from 10 - sunset.

Energy Awareness Hub

Photo: woodlands garden. We will be working on the Energy Awareness Hub building all day Sunday and, at 1.30pm we will be having a lovely big soup lunch using some of the vegetables still in the garden and then proceeding to a gardening session from 2 - 4, where we will be planting some blackberries, pruning some trees and raspberry bushes, putting the final touches to our plastic bottle greenhouse and mini polytunnel, and having a look at the role of the garden in the autumn and winter - what can be done at this time of year, and what help you can get to extend the growing season. We will be having a professional gardener along from 2 - 4 on this day to help us. So all welcome, no experience necessary.

We are also open from 12 - 4 on Tuesdays and Thursdays so if you are free and willing, you can come down then.

Big Build Week

We are aiming to finish the building by the 5th of December and so leading up to this we will be having another Big Build Week where we will be open every day to get the work completed. On the 5th we will be having an event from 1 - 4 to launch the building, which should be a lot of fun and we hope that you can make it for that.

Ideas Forum

Our next ideas forum meeting will be at 7.00pm at Lansdowne Church, 416 Great Western Road, on the 6th of December, where the focus will be on energy initiatives and events that will be based from the hub - all most welcome.

A quick shout out for volunteers willing to aid us - if anybody wants to help with poster designs and distributions or help us with our carbon footprinting of the Woodlands area we would be massively grateful. Also, if anybody wants to join our happy group of site supervisors and spend a couple of hours a month, or whatever time you can, as a site supervisor during public open days then that would be fantastic, and great for your CV, so please do get in touch if this takes your fancy.

Any other thoughts/ideas/comments/criticisms - always please do let us know.
