Open Mic events can be found in Glasgow more or less every night of the week. Entry is usually free and with a bit of luck you will encounter some talented performers. The Open Mic sessions tend to be organised by some very committed artists, who themselves contribute to the entertainment. Names that spring to mind include Mic Clark, Crawford Smith, Dochan MacMillan and Chris Rodger and fair play to them for their dedication and to the venues that are creating opportunities for new acts to showcase their material.
The approach is very straightforward, you just turn up at the venue, let the organiser/promoter know that you would like to perform and you will be added to the list of acts for that evening. It’s simple!
Always check with the venue as open mics tend to come and go or change nights.

Can’t help you with Dunfermline, Wes. I’m sure you’ll find somewhere on the listings in Glasgow. Enjoy your trip.
JohnnyB looking to pay covers and iv got m own material .Iv benn a singer song writer for 10 years now playing with my harmonics and guitar. Anyone know best place to start in Glasgow ?
I’m readying down this list and getting a tad excited. Been in Glasgow 3 years from Canada and just holed up in my flat with my guitar. I’m a singer/song-writer too (mostly folk/country type stuffs) and this may be an excellent way to meet similar folks and brush out the guitar. Also play whistles and a few other wind instruments…
I am in Glasgow from Thursday 1st June to Sunday 4th June, inclusive. Does anyone know of any Open Mics during these days that welcome poetry/spoken word? Thank you for any help…
Hi there, I wonder if you’d like to include Basil’s Sunday Jam at St Louis Cafe Bar, Dumbarton Road. First Sunday in every month. 4pm-7pm.
Many thanks,
Kim.
