Friday 10–Saturday 11 October, 2014
Although Night on Earth features a huge international cast, Jarmusch uses a variety of uniquely limiting shots and compositions to depict five stories, all set in taxis across the world, all reflecting on one another in some way. Focusing on the temporary bond between driver and passenger, Jarmusch wrote the screenplay in around eight days. He created characters specifically for actors he wished to work with, including Roberto Benigni’s largely improvised turn as an eccentric Roman cabbie.
