The Midwife, GFT, 7 – 13 July, 2017

Two of French cinemas finest actresses headline this bittersweet drama. Claire (Catherine Frot) is a wonderfully gifted midwife, who, over the years, has found her sense of pride and responsibility clashing with the more efficiency-driven methods of modern hospitals. Just as she is beginning to feel she has lost her place in the world, she receives a phone call that changes everything from Béatrice (Catherine Deneuve), the extravagant mistress of her late father, who disappeared without a trace before her father’s death. Specially commissioned programme notes will be available.
