On New Year’s Day 2009, twenty-two-year-old Californian Oscar Grant decides to get a head start on his resolutions – taking steps to become a better son, father and partner. However, Oscar’s short life comes to a tragic end when he is fatally shot by transit police at Fruitvale Subway station – an event that would shake the Bay Area, and the entire nation, to its core.
