Anna Rose Holmer’s The Fits is a portrait of 11-year-old Toni, a tomboy from Cincinnati torn between the male dominated world of boxing and the seemingly glamorous dance team The Lionesses. Enamoured by the power and confidence of this strong community of girls, Toni eagerly absorbs routines, masters drills, and goes to extraordinary lengths to fit in. When the girls begin to succumb to a mysterious outbreak of fainting spells, Toni’s desire for acceptance becomes twisted. This mysterious and compelling drama features a stunning performance from newcomer Royalty Hightower.
