Animated rebels: this programme of Spanish & Latin American short animation films is a unique journey through some of the best work from Spanish-speaking creators, who have through the last decades been deeply influenced by the plasticity and innovation of Stirling-born Norman McLaren.
Including stop-motion animation, moving 2-D, colourful 3-D, pixilation and more, this curating process might uniquely depict the traces of the McLaren genius in contemporary Spanish & Latin American animation – a legacy closely related to the power of canvas maestros like Picasso, Dalí or Joan Miró. This selection of masterpieces dives in to the theme of our summer programme, trying to bring separate stories of anonymous characters all in need of an uprising.
