Big Star: Live in Memphis
Thursday 7 August – 6 p.m.
GFT, 12 Rose Street, G3 6RB
This film captures the great power-pop group Big Star in a homecoming performance from 1994. The film may represent the best live footage of Big Star and its frontman – the late Alex Chilton, who was generally reluctant to be filmed. Raw tapes remained unedited in a box in a closet in Memphis until recently. Now, just the third screening of the completed film is presented at GFT to honour Chilton’s connection to Glasgow, where he often visited and collaborated with musical friends including Teenage Fanclub.
We are delighted that filmmaker David Julian Leonard will join us for a Q&A following the screening, hosted by Duglas Stewart from BMX Bandits.
