This affecting drama from the award-winning producers of 12 Years a Slave and Moonlight is based on the best selling memoirs by David Sheff and his son Nic Sheff. Nic (a standout performance from Timothée Chalamet) is battling an addiction to crystal meth. His father David (Steve Carell) tries to help, as the pair slowly realise that relapse is part of recovery and sobriety is not so easily obtained. A narrative full of poignant flashbacks, Beautiful Boy faces uncomfortable truths head-on, chronicling the heart-breaking and inspiring experience of survival and recovery in a family coping with addiction.
