Kinning Park Complex, 43 Cornwall St, Glasgow G41 1BA
All welcome
Where do our seeds come from? How did they get here?
Gather for a friendly discussion led by artist and researcher Désirée Coral, about the origins and stories behind some of our most common vegetables.
This month we attend to the history of the bean, from its origins as a wild vine in the Americas to the thousands of varieties grown around the world today.
The event will be accompanied by a drop-in Seedy Social where you can browse and borrow seeds, including some special beans!
Both events take place as part of a three course, pay-what-you-can, community meal with Kinning Park Community Kitchen, celebrating all things bean!
Free talk, unticketed, all welcome.
About the speaker
Désirée Coral is an Ecuadorian-born artist and a PhD student at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design. A component of her research investigates the botanical trajectories of dyes. She explores and examines early global exchanges of plants and seeds, from the Americas to the rest of the world and vice versa. Désirée is Glasgow Seed Library’s first artist/researcher in residence, supported by the Scottish Graduate School for Arts and Humanities.
