OURS is a short film made to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the occupation of Govanhill Baths and the start of the community’s fight to save the pool. It follows the inspirational journey of Govanhill Baths; from closure, grass roots protest and occupation to community ownership. Facing the challenges of the COVID -19 pandemic, Govanhill Baths Community Trust have built innovative solutions to support the community. The Baths is set to reopen as a Wellbeing Centre in 2022.
OURS is a short film by Written in Film, with assistance from award-winning filmmaker Patrick Rooney. It was commissioned by Community Land Scotland as part of their Urban Journeys in Community Ownership project and supported by The Stove Network.
The film will premiere online via Facebook Live on Govanhill Baths Community Trust Facebook page on Sunday 21 March at 7pm. The film screening forms part of the Occupy! Occupy! Occupy! Programe, celebrating 20 years of the occupation of Govanhill Baths: 2001-2021
