The sixth annual Mackintosh Festival – celebrating the achievements of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Glasgow’s most famous architect, designer and artist.
An extensive programme of events will take place in Glasgow Mackintosh venues with a focus on architecture, design, visual arts and crafts.
You can enjoy walks, workshops, exhibitions, performances, talks and events for all ages. These will appeal to longstanding Mackintosh fans and those who are just learning about his architecture, art and designs.

An Afternoon with Windows in the West
Avril Paton at Mackintosh Queen’s Cross Church
Artist Avril Paton as she tells us about the inspiration and process behind two of her most iconic paintings – Windows in the West and the Art School. Refreshments included as well as the opportunity to purchase signed prints.

A banner making workshop with artist Elisabeth Viguie-Culshaw of Lansdowne House of Stencils. Inspired by a Charles Rennie Mackintosh banner from the Willow Tea Rooms, you will explore the skill of stencilling on paper and fabric and decorate your own cushion cover in Mackintosh style to take home before creating a communal banner using stencilling and multi-media. The finished banner will be exhibited during the month of October at the Lighthouse, Glasgow. You don’t need special skills or be able to draw to take part. We will be using paint and stencils on the day please make sure you wear old clothes.
Tea/Coffee are included together with all material, there will be a short lunch break.

‘A Threaded Story‘ will be exhibited during the Mackintosh Festival 1-31st October 2017 A one off collection of textiles from around the globe including exquisite Japanese Kimonos.
‘A Rather Remarkable Evening’ A Japanese Tea Ceremony will take place on Thursday 5th October at 7.30pm , Geisha Girls,Tea,Traditional Treats and Sake.
