Wild at Heart, GFT, 23 and 25 April, 2017
David Lynch provides his very own unique take on The Wizard of Oz, following the passionate relationship of Lula (Laura Dern) and Sailor (Nicolas Cage); a dream team on the run from the mob. One of the most romantic – and violent – films in Lynch’s oeuvre, the film won the Palme d’Or at the 1990 Cannes Film Festival but (like many of Lynch’s films) received both positive and negative reviews from the audience before building up an ecstatic cult following.
