Glasgow Wind Band’s Summer Carnival
Hyndland Parish Church, 81 Hyndland Road, Glasgow G12 9JE
Tickets £8 (£5 concessions), available on the door.
The Glasgow Wind Band will be getting into a party mood with our Summer Carnival of music. We have plenty to celebrate: the sun is out, chasing away the winter blues, and the school holidays are within touching distance. We have won our fourth Platinum Award at the NCBF, crowning yet another successful year.
In order to celebrate our development into one of the UK’s top bands, we will be presenting a piece of music representing each of the Home Nations.
• Summon the Dragon by Peter Graham (Wales)
• Gaelforce by Peter Graham (Ireland)
• Padstow Lifeboat by Malcolm Arnold (England)
• Four Scottish Dances by Malcolm Arnold (Scotland)
Music from stage and screen are an important part of our repertoire and we are celebrating the anniversaries of a number of big films and shows by playing some of the most famous themes:
• James Bond (50 years)
• ET (30 years)
• Les Miserables (30 years)
In addition to all this we have managed to squeeze in a tribute to Verdi (200 years old!) with his Grand March from Aida.
It promises to a great evening of music and the perfect way to start your summer.
This concert is presented as part of the West End Festival.
