During the 1950s, James Stewart and director Anthony Mann collaborated on a series of lean, flinty westerns that helped redefine the genre and pave the way for the spaghetti westerns of the 1960s. The partnership reached a creative peak with The Man from Laramie in which Stewart’s mysterious stranger Will Lockhart embarks on a relentless quest for vengeance. Filmed in New Mexico with Stewart performing many of his own stunts, the film uses Technicolor to captures the majesty of the landscapes and the intensity of the emotions. A beautiful 4k restoration makes this rare cinema screening essential viewing.
