In January 2013, 26-year-old Aaron Swartz took his own life while facing 35 years in prison for trying to make academic journal articles free to the general public. Director Brian Knappenberger’s documentary depicts Swartz’s life as a young Internet activist. Childhood home video footage and narration from friends and family members produce an emotional journey, combined with a questioning of government restrictions on Internet freedom.
This screening is presented by GYFF and will be introduced by Dr María Vélez-Serna, researcher in Film & Television Studies at Glasgow University. Tickets £2 for Youth Card Holders.
